Zabriel Rivers is a vocalist, cultural performer, storyteller, educator, and Gullah language artist whose work centers the preservation, performance, and evolution of Gullah culture through music, oral tradition, and historical storytelling. Blending classical vocal training with folk traditions, theatrical performance, and cultural interpretation, Rivers creates performances that bridge history and contemporary expression while illuminating the enduring legacy of the Gullah people.

Rivers holds a Master of Music degree from New England Conservatory of Music and a bachelor’s degree from Alabama State University, where he also serves as a faculty member. A performer with experience spanning concert halls, theater, and educational spaces, Rivers has appeared at Carnegie Hall and the Perelman Performing Arts Center and has performed in musical theater and opera, including work with the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. His performances often weave together spirituals, storytelling, historical interpretation, folk traditions, and vocal artistry into immersive experiences that entertain while educating audiences about Gullah language, music, and cultural memory.

Through performance, teaching, and cultural advocacy, Rivers is committed to expanding understanding of Gullah history and artistic traditions while creating work that honors the voices, stories, and musical contributions too often overlooked in American cultural history.
